I found that the X2 produced great coffee but served up poor milk frothing and cool to chilled milk.
Gaggia's legendary poor-reliability issues are definitely not solved with this model. It reminds me of the Maserati I owned - great to look at, has fantastic specifications, but hardly ever works properly! Italian reliability seems to be harder to find than hen's teeth.
I've previously owned a Gaggia Titanium and, although I followed all the maintenance instructions to the letter, I suffered constant boiler failures and weeks without decent coffee whilst the machine was sent back to Gaggia in Halifax for repair.
So, it was with some trepidation that I decided to give Gaggia another chance - thinking that after more than 5 years reliability must have improved. How wrong I was...
On the first machine, the coffee circuit simply stopped producing coffee after only a few days whereas the second machine arrived with the milk circuit working only a fraction of the time. Also, the software appears a bit suspect in that both machines did rinses at strange intervals and kept locking up on standby. Remember, this is a product being sold for £1,000!
After the postman told me that a woman in the neighbouring village had sent her Gaggia back 8 times, so far....! I decided to bale out early and returned the second faulty machine for a full refund. I had a pretty strong case as two machines had failed within 28 days. Actually that's 2 brand new X2 machines within days of being switched on for the first time. That's an even worse performance than a considerably more sophisticated Maserati, again - this is a £1,000 coffee machine for goodness sake!
Chris at Xpress coffee uk was keen to offer an upgrade price for moving to a Jura machine, taking into account the problems encountered with the Gaggia. Chris and the staff at Xpress coffee really do want you to end up satisfied, even if it means they have to convince you to spend more that you did originally! After a bit of to and fro we agreed a mixture of price and accessories that left me just about in the same position as if I'd bought a Jura first off. So, many thanks to Chris and the girls. After paying out a lot more money I am now hopefully in the exact position I thought I was a few weeks ago when the Gaggia X2 arrived! Take my advice and speak to Xpress coffee before you decide which machine to purchase.
If you do get a problem with a Gaggia expect to find yourself dealing directly with Halifax who will need convincing by yourself that there is indeed a problem with the machine. Finally, if you do have an X2 and it's working faultlessly then do seriously consider the extended guarantee. I wish we had done one of those with the old Titanium. On a more positive note, after a twenty minute argument, the people in Halifax should now know that there is a new cleaning pack for the X2 and that they shouldn't be selling the old descaling pack to clean the milk circuit!
Xpress coffee uk are very professional and it's a great experience to be one of their customers. I'll be adding a review of the Jura Z5 Gen 2 in a week or so after I've got used to using it.
I purchased the X2 at a cracking price, the best price on the net, as Tracy says they won’t be beaten on price also I had all the goodies that came with it.
There was only one problem, they were all in Italy and Tracy was waiting shipment, talk about hit the ground running as soon as they did we had ours the next day.
We are still finding our way around the machine, but as to yet it’s MAGIC.
Any queries, we pick up the phone and speak to Jenny who is the expert on the X2.
I would like to say thanks Xpress Coffee, Tracy Chris and Jenny we will shop with you again. Kind regards Terry.
Dear Tracy & Chris
I would just like to say thank you for all the trouble that you went to, to make sure that we received the order on Saturday morning along with the X2 from Gaggia direct.(received the order with Parcel force at 1030 am)
Every thing in the order was OK except for one glass that was broken (This I have taken up with Chris and he is replacing it) I would like to thank you for the extra goodies, which we are very grateful for.
We are finding our way around the X2 and up to press most things are quite easy to say that we are a couple of old crinkles, if we have any problems we will be in touch with Jenny 2 machines who I am told is an expert on the X2.
Once again thank you.
Kind Regards Terry R

Just a quick note to say that my Gaggia Cappuccino X2 machine arrived safely and is now in full use !
First impressions are great easy to use, fantastic tasting cappuccinos and good looking.
Could do with a larger milk container though - hey, ho - can't have everything I guess !!!Thanks for your help.
