More on the benefits of drinking coffee
In the last article we looked at some of the benefits of drinking coffee and how it can help you to stay alert while driving or aid in concentration when studying for important exams. Now, we will be continuing with this theme and looking further at situations where drinking coffee can be advantageous.
Much research has been done over the years regarding coffee consumption and its health benefits (or otherwise). The saying that most things are ok in moderation certainly applies to coffee drinking. If a person is feeling tired and lethargic, regular coffee consumption has been shown to have improved cognitive performance in that person.
With regards to driving at night, even the UK Department of Transport in its ‘Think!’ Road Safety Campaign gives advice that includes: ‘Drink two cups of coffee or a high-caffeinated drink, then take a short nap to allow the caffeine to kick in’.
Coffee not only alleviates driver fatigue. It is well-remarked that, after lunch, our performance levels at work can start to dip. Again, coffee helps us to regain our concentration and raise our alertness levels sufficiently to give us the boost we need. This is also the case for those who work late shifts at night.
Some research has even found that coffee can boost a person suffering from the common cold. So, there are many benefits of drinking coffee regularly and in moderation, to give us a lift when we need it the most.
