Putting the coffee machine on at least once a day may have massive health benefits in that case and Professor Jonathan Geiger, one of the authors of the study, states to the Daily Mail, “Caffeine appears to block several of the disruptive-effects of cholesterol that make the blood-brain barrier leaky. High levels of cholesterol are a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, perhaps by compromising the protective nature of the blood-brain barrier. For the first time we have shown that chronic ingestion of caffeine protects the blood-brain barrier from cholesterol-induced leakage.”

With the health benefits of coffee being many and varied, some Italians, who are particularly well known for their fondness of the coffee machine, have gone so far as to claim that coffee should, in fact, be classified as a health drink. Speaking to the BBC, Italian dietician Chiara Trombetti, points to the wealth of scientific evidence that points to the health benefits of coffee such as the antioxidants it possesses that help clear arteries and she suggests that a coffee machine may indeed be a wise purchase.
