Coffee beans from around the world

Filed under: Coffee Articles — Greg @ 4:05 pm

When you are drinking your coffee in the morning, you may (or may not) be wondering where in the world the coffee beans came from that were used to make your beverage. It is a fact that the flavour of your coffee is determined by the environment where your coffee beans were cultivated.

The geographical location of coffee beans could be from Ethiopia, Guatemala, Kenya or Costa Rica. Wherever the beans were grown, each is certain to have its own taste and characteristics according to the species of coffee plant, such as Coffea arabica, Coffea congensis or Coffea canephora.

These are the two main types of coffee beans and are more commonly known as Arabica and Robusta, making up over 90 percent of coffee bean sales worldwide. These two coffee beans produce coffee with different characteristics.

Next time you are in the coffee shop buying your daily dose of caffeine, take a look at the coffee of the day and coffee beans used to make your coffee. You may find you prefer certain types of coffee and from particular parts of the world, grown according to the local climate and environmental factors.
